 Sheena Madden Jackson

Sheena Madden Jackson has been dancing from the age of 4 and came to the American Academy Ballet at the age of 15 to further her studies in classical ballet. At the official school of the Charleston Ballet, she has studied under Kim R. Pauley, Olivier Wecxsteen, Radenko Pavlovich, Gyula Pandi, Angela Price, Miguel Campaneria, Ronnie DeMarco, Donald Laney and Robert Royce. Ms. Madden Jackson became an apprentice for the Charleston Ballet and then a member of the company in 2008.

Ms. Madden Jackson has also studied at the WV Dance Festival, Steps on Broadway in NYC, Beckley Dance Theater Intensive, Saratoga Summer Dance Intensive with New York City Ballet, Paul Taylor Dance Co. and specialty studies for South Indian dance, Bharatanatyam, from Ragamala Dance Company. She has competed master classes in several competitions including Jump Dance Convention, Tremaine, LA Dance Force, and New York City Dance Alliance. She has studied with noted master teachers such as David Howard, Duncan Noble, Jerry Rose, Ariel Serrano, Lorraine Graves, Roberto Munoz, Melinda Roy, Sean Lavery, Simon Ball, Patricia Wilde, and Maria Kowroski. She has studied modern dance with Shane O'Hara, Carli Mareneck, and Toneta Akers-Toler, and jazz with Jamal Story, Christopher Huggins, Nic Harris, Wade Robson, Nick Lazzarini, Maurice Curry, and Todd Rosenlieb.

Her performance experience includes traditional classical ballets such as LES SYLPHIDES, LA BAYADERE, SEASONS, GRAND PAS DE QUATRE, FAUST, SERENADE, SWAN LAKE, PAQUITA, DON QUIXOTE, and ROMEO AND JULIET. She has performed multiple roles in the NUTCRACKER with the WV Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Madden Jackson has danced in contemporary works such as RHAPSODY IN BLUE, Christopher Fleming's PLAY BALL! and JANIS AND JOE, DANSE MACABRE, BOLERO, DOODLE DANDY, POULENC PIANO CONCERTO, and Pauley's SQUARE DANCE to music of the late WV Senator Robert C. Byrd, and Grant Cooper’s Original Score ON THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL. Her modern and character works include DUSK TO DAWN, FLAPPERS, GAMES, AFRICAN IMAGES, THE THREE CORNERED HAT, and Miguel Campaneria's Spanish flavored MAJISMO, are all part of her repertoire. She performed in the 2011 world premiere of PINOCCHIO to Evan Mack’s original score, and Jamal Story's premiere of THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN.

Ms. Madden Jackson also has an interest in Egyptian Belly Dance and Bollywood dance styles. She has performed and staged several Bollywood and Belly Dance pieces for the Charleston Ballet since 2014, they include Dola Re Dola from Devdas, Nimbooda, Mera Mahi Bada Sona Hai, Aja Nachle, Taal Se Taal, Sahra Saidi, and solos Apsara Aali and Sheila Ki Jawani just to name a few. In 2011, Sheena performed a Bharatanatyam solo, Sadhanchitha, for an event at the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences. Ms. Madden Jackson has also taught tap classes for the American Academy Ballet.
