Anne Marie Snyder

Anne Marie Snyder began her studies at an early age at under the direction of Nina Denton.  With Ms. Denton, she performed in productions of ANNIE, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, SLEEPING BEAUTY, and SNOW WHITE AND RED ROSE.  She participated with Ballet South’s NUTCRACKER performance under the direction of Dame Sonia Arova.  She also performed with the Moscow Festival Ballet’s NUTCRACKER production in Charleston.  

Ms. Snyder enrolled in the American Academy Ballet to intensify her training under the direction of Kim R. Pauley and has studied with AAB teachers Ariel Serrano, Heather Ray, and Lori Patton.  She was first accepted as an apprentice and then to the Charleston Ballet, now performing many soloist roles with the company.

 Ms. Snyder has professional aspirations and has participated in the West Virginia Dance Festival for many years.  She has attended classes under such noted teachers as David Howard , the late Duncan Noble, Gyula Pandi, Shane O’Hara, Ronnie DeMarco, Mark Jelks, and Katrina Killian.  While attending the Pittsburgh Youth Ballet Summer Program, Ms. Snyder trained under the direction of Gelsey Kirkland, Jean Gideon, and Michael Vernon.  She also attended the Charlotte City Ballet’s National Intensive Summer Dance program and with Oleg Briansky in Saratoga Springs in New York, where she trained with many dancers from New York City Ballet.  Ms. Snyder has worked extensively for several years with Haydee Gutierrez, Flamenco style with Margarita Bruce, and frequent guest choreographers including Miguel Campaneria, Devon Carney, and Donald Laney.

Ms. Snyder early performances include the Scottish-styled ballet GLENGARRY, the neo-classic ballet ELEMENTS, the traditional LES SYLPHIDES, THE FLAPPERS, and ALICE IN WONDERLAND. 

She performed in Campaneria’s Spanish ballet MAJISIMO and premiere of his TANGOS.  She has created soloist roles in Charleston Ballet’s full-length NUTCRACKER series, including many student performances and public concerts now presented with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra at the Clay Center, BACH SONATA, a soloist role in GRADUATION BALL, and RAYMONDA Act III.  She was seen in the Charleston Ballet’s performances of PAQUITA, partnered by Ariel Serrano, premiere of AFRICAN IMAGES and RHAPSODY IN BLUE.  Ms. Snyder has created roles in Pauley’s contemporary DANCES IN A MADHOUSE, DANSE MACABRE, DOODLE DANDY, and Charleston Ballet’s educational program THINK ON YOUR FEET. As a guest dancer at Capital High School, she performed ROMANIAN DANCES.  Full-length productions of SWAN LAKE and  COPPELIA,  Pauley’s balletic ONDINE, Donald Laney’s modern JOURNEY TO THE PROMISED LAND and Ronnie DeMarco’s Latin jazz work CELEBRACION show her versatility as a dancer.

Ms. Snyder’s recent performance credits also include the classical ballets LES SYLPHIDES, full-length productions of GISELLE , SLEEPING BEAUTY, and THE NUTCRACKER (both in Charleston and Morgantown, WV) the premiere of SHE LOVES YOU, music to the Beatles, REPETITION, WEST SIDE STORY, ANOTHER LIFE, songs by Sting, the contemporary work DUSK TO DAWN, and premiere of POULENC’S PIANO CONCERTO.

Ms. Snyder is currently a student at West Virginia University majoring in exercise physiology with a minor in theater.
